The Model
Step 1: Build the local team
In order to mobilize a community around the housing process, local stakeholders must come together around a common aim, demonstrate a willingness to share information and solutions, combine resources, and share recognition.
Step 2: Clarify the demand
During the Registry Week, Arlington’s team will create a by-name and photograph registry of everyone experiencing homelessness in Arlington.
Step 3: Line up the supply
This, the most challenging step, requires the local campaign to identify and supplement the local housing supply to ensure that those identified as the most vulnerable during registry week can be housed quickly and appropriately based on the services they need.
Step 4: Move people into housing
This is where the rubber meets the road. It takes a community approach to match individuals with appropriate housing and coordinate social services delivery.
Step 5: Help people stay housed
This is when the real work begins. Housing providers and supportive services must work together closely to maintain appropriate and affordable housing.
